"Remember your contemporaries who have passed away and were your age. Remember the honors and fame they earned, the high posts they held, and the beautiful bodies they possessed. Today all of them are turned to dust. They have left orphans and widows behind them, their wealth is being wasted, and their houses turned into ruins. No sign of them is left today, and they lie in dark holes underneath the earth. Picture their faces before your mind's eye and ponder."

"Man's nature is made up of four elements, which produce in him four attributes, namely, the beastly, the brutal, the satanic, and the divine. In man there is something of the pig, the dog, the devil, and the saint."

"시간을 소홀히 하거나 아무렇게나 사용하지 말고, 오히려 스스로에게 책임을 물어야 합니다. 낮과 밤의 전례와 기타 수행을 체계적으로 구성하세요. 이것이 각 기간에 영적 축복(바라카)을 가져오는 방법입니다. 여러분의 호흡 하나하나가 귀중한 보석이라면, 날마다 재산은 늘어나는데 수명은 점점 짧아지는 것에 기뻐하는 속는 어리석은 자들처럼 되지 마세요."

"Neglect not your time, nor use it haphazardly; on the contrary you should bring yourself to account. Structure your litanies and other practices during each day and night. This is how to bring about the spiritual blessing (baraka) in each period. If each of your breaths is a priceless jewel, Be not like the deceived fools who are joyous because each day their wealth increases while their life grows ever shorter."

"When you have a bad suspicion about a Muslim in your heart, you should increase your consideration toward him and make dua for him. This way you will infuriate Satan and will be able to drive him away. Because of this, Satan will be reluctant to put evil thoughts into your heart, afraid that you would increase your consideration towards your brother and will make dua for him again."

"하나님 안에는 슬픔이나 고통이나 괴로움이 없습니다. 모든 고통과 괴로움에서 벗어나고 싶다면 하나님을 굳게 붙잡고 다른 누구에게도 의지하지 말고 온전히 그분께만 의지하세요. 참으로 여러분의 모든 고통은 하나님과 다른 누구에게도 의지하지 않는 것에서 비롯됩니다."

"In God, there is no sorrow or suffering or affliction. If you want to be free of all affliction and suffering, hold fast to God, and turn wholly to Him, and to no one else. Indeed, all your suffering comes from this: that you do not turn toward God and no one else."

"지상에서의 삶에 비례하여 지상에서의 위치를 위해 일하고, 지상에서의 영원에 비례하여 내세에서의 삶을 위해 일하세요."

"Work for your terrestrial life in proportion to your location in it, and work for your afterlife in proportion to your eternity in it."

"젊은이여, 지식만으로는 손을 강하게 할 수 없나니......사람이 십만 가지 과학적 질문을 읽고 이해하거나 배웠어도 그것으로 일하지 않으면---일하지 않고는 그에게 유익하지 않느니라.....지식이란 나무요, 일은 그 열매이니, 백년을 공부하고 천 권의 책을 모았다 해도 일하지 않으면 지존하신 알라의 자비를 받을 준비가 되지 않으리라."

"O youth.......be assured that knowledge alone does not strengthen the hand......Though a man read a hundred thousand scientific questions and understood them or learned them, but did not work with them---They do not benefit him except by working.....Knowledge is the tree, and working is its fruit; and though you studied a hundred years and assembled a thousand books, you would not be prepared for the mercy of Allah the Exalted except by working."

"하나님께 가까이 가기 위해 노력하는 것은 몸이 아니라 마음이라는 것을 기억하세요. 마음이란 감각으로 인식되는 육체를 의미하는 것이 아니라 때로는 영으로, 때로는 영혼으로 표현되는 비밀스러운 것을 의미합니다."

"Remember it is the heart and not the body, which strives to draw near to God. By heart I do not mean the flesh perceived by the senses, but that secret thing which is sometimes expressed by spirit, and sometimes by soul."

"Are you ready to cut off your head and place your foot on it? If so, come; Love awaits you! Love is not grown in a garden, nor sold in the marketplace; whether you are a king or a servant, the price is your head, and nothing less. Yes, the cost of the elixir of love is your head! Do you hesitate? 0 miser, It is cheap at that price!"

"어려움과 고난이 인간을 가로막고 고난과 고통의 어둠이 길어지는 복잡한 인생의 길에서 무슬림에게 빛과 같은 역할을 하는 것은 오직 인내이며, 그를 여기저기 방황하지 않게 하고 실망과 절망, 좌절의 진흙탕에서 구해내는 것입니다."

"In the intricate paths of life when difficulties and hardships confront a man, and the darkness of difficulty and suffering becomes long, it is patience only that acts like a light for a Muslim, that keeps him safe from wandering here and there, and saves him from the muddy marsh of disappointment, desperation and frustration."

"결혼을 거부하는 사람은 농사를 축소하고 씨앗을 낭비하며 하나님이 창조하신 적절한 도구를 방치하는 것이며, 자연 구조의 증거에서 보이는 창조의 목적과 지혜에 반하는 죄를 짓는 것입니다. 결혼을 거부하는 남자는 자신의 존재와 아담의 존재를 연결하던 끊어지지 않았던 존재의 사슬을 끊어버린 것입니다."

"Anyone who refuses to marry is shrinking his farmwork, wasting the seed, and leaving idle the appropiate tools created by God; he sins against the purpose of creation and wisdom visible in the evidence of natural structure. The man who refuses to marry has severed a chain of being, a previously unbroken chain linking his own existence to that of Adam."

"단순한 육체적 인간은 종이 위를 기어 다니는 개미와 같아서 검은 글자를 관찰하고 그 글자의 생성을 펜의 탓으로 돌릴 뿐 그 이상은 아무것도 아닙니다."

"The mere physical man is like the ant crawling on the paper, who observes black lettering and attributes its production to the pen and nothing more."

"Know, O beloved, that man was not created in jest or at random, but marvelously made and for some great end. Although he is not form everlasting, yet he lives for ever; and though his body is mean and earthly, yet his spirit is lofty and divine"

"리야에는 과시적 과시, 즉 순수한 과시와 부정한 과시의 두 가지 종류가 있습니다. 순수한 과시 "리야"에서 남자는 세속적인 이익을 위해서만 선행을 합니다. 음란한 과시에서 사람은 세상과 내세에서 이익을 얻으려는 의도로 선행을 행합니다."

"There are two kinds of Riya - Showing off-Ostentation ie pure ostentation and adulterated ostention. In pure ostentation "Riya" a man does a good deed only for worldly benefit. In Adulterated ostentation, a man does a good deed with the intention of reaping the benefits of the world as well as of the Hereafter."

"건강에 대한 희망을 고치지 말고 삶을 비웃지 마십시오. 그들이 어떻게 걸었고 이제 모든 관절이 따로 놓여 있고 가볍게 말한 혀가 벌레에 의해 먹혀 버린 것을 기억하십시오."

"Do not fix hopes on your health, and do not laugh away life. Remember how they walked and now all their joints lie separately, and the tongue with which they talked lightly is eaten away by the worms"

"인간은 자신에 대해, 자신의 정신적 우월성과 지적 깊이에 대해 매우 좋은 의견을 가지고 있으며, 참과 거짓, 안전의 길과 오류의 길을 분별하는 데 매우 능숙하다고 믿기 때문에 철학적 저작을 읽는 것을 가능한 한 금지해야 한다고 생각합니다."

"Men have such a good opinion of themselves, of their mental superiority and intellectual depth; they believe themselves so skilled in discerning the true from the false, the path of safety from those of error, that they should be forbidden as much as possible the perusal of philosophic writings."

"마카로 가는 순례자가 낙타를 돌보는 것처럼 영혼은 육체를 돌봐야 하지만, 순례자가 낙타에게 먹이를 주고 꾸미는 데만 시간을 보낸다면 캐러밴은 그를 버리고 사막에서 죽고 말 것입니다."

"The soul should take care of the body, just as the pilgrim on his way to Makkah takes care of his camel; but if the pilgrim spends his whole time in feeding and adorning his camel, the caravan will leave him behind, and he will perish in the desert."
